NHS England is responsible for the UK implementation and management of SNOMED CT, the Read Codes, and other terminology products used in health and care. This includes associated tools and derivative resources.
NHS England maintains the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d) in partnership with the NHS Business Services Authority.

Increasing SNOMED International description length limits
Following the Delen news article on the proposal to increase description length limits, SNOMED International has published the descriptions that will be increased beyond the previous 255-character limit in the August 2026 SNOMED CT International Edition, under item 29 here:
2026 Early Visibility Release Notifications
These descriptions will first appear in the SNOMED CT UK Edition release 43.0.0, due for publication on 30 September 2026 (see the 2026-2027 Release Schedule: SNOMED CT UK Edition page on Delen), as that release will include data from the August 2026 SNOMED CT International Edition.
