NHS England is responsible for the UK implementation and management of SNOMED CT, the Read Codes, and other terminology products used in health and care. This includes associated tools and derivative resources.
NHS England maintains the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d) in partnership with the NHS Business Services Authority.

Addition of GTINs to SNOMED CT UK Drug Extension
NHS England is adding Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) from the dictionary of medicines and devices (dm+d) to the SNOMED CT UK Drug Extension. Only GTINs held in dm+d will be included.
The change is confirmed for release 43.1.0 on 28 October 2026.
